Etiquette in simpler form is good behaviour that distinguishes human beings from animals. Etiquette makes you a cultured individual who leaves his mark wherever he steps his foot in. I'm focusing on How to behave at a restaurant. I really think we all know how to behave in a restaurant. The problem is we don't all put this knowledge in to pratice. Here's a list of reminders to put us in place while dining out.
1. Avoid Being Noisy
It is fun to hang out with your friends in a restaurant but not at the cost of disturbing the other people. Avoid talking loudly. Also, do not unnecessarily converse with people sitting at other tables and annoy them.
2. Burping and Licking
Even if the food was delicious, there is no need to have a finger licking feast and annoying other diners. Infact, we need to avoid over eating so we don't end up burping unnecessarily.
3. Have patience If you have patiently waited for your food to be cooked, then what harm will it cause you to wait while it is being served? Act sensibly at the sight of food.
4. Dropped Items If you dropped something on the floor or elsewhere, wait till the server picks it up. You need not worry. Another mistake people make is cleaning the table where food was dropped.
5. Resting Elbow
It is improper to rest your hand on the table while dining out. Sit straight and upright. It also helps quick digestion and also gives you a smart look.
6. Talking while you eat
Don't talk with food stuffed in your mouth or don't chew between conversations. The sight of that is indecent and can annoying other diners. It also brings sheer embarassment while spitting food on your clothes or the body of others.
7. Thank the service
If you like the service provided by the waiter or waitress, don't hesitate to appreciate them. It makes them feel better after probably stress from the other diners or their boss. A little thank you will not kill.
You can sit or eat the way you so desire while at home but while at a restaurant or while you're dining out please take note of the above restaurant etiquette.
